Nokia Maemo featured on new Nokia N900

Nokia is a name synonymous with cellphones, and this time round they’re going to unleash a double whammy on the consumer world – the new Maemo software alongside a brand new N Series device known as the Nokia N900. The open source, Linux-based Maemo software is touted to offer an experience quite like what one would expect on a computer, albeit on a device that can fit into your palm – which probably means the N900 must be pretty beefed up in terms of specifications and features in the first place. Firstly, the Nokia N900 will be the next step in evolution for Nokia’s previous Internet tablet devices, offering the added flexibility for consumers who want to multitask even on their handsets, while browsing the Internet in a same manner as they would on a normal desktop

HP launches App Store for TouchSmart Printers

A few months ago, we covered the HP’s Photosmart Premium web-connected printer, which is due to be released at the end of the month. It would appear that HP is borrowing a page from the Apple playbook as the Photosmart is also slated to have its own App store.
Since the Photosmart comes with Touchsmart Web technology, it allows the user access to the web via 4.33 inch touchscreen. A user can access the App store by hitting the “Get More” option on this screen.
From there, it becomes a virtual shopping network as the user can access many applications that are represented by small icons. There is also a place for user ratings, reviews, and even a place to submit future applications.

New Features for Google Voice

In another attempt by Google to make certain every user can go to one spot for all their mobile and Internet stuff, Google Voice just unveiled two new features.
The first is the ability to have your SMS messages forward to your email. I actually have this feature on my Spinvox account, but the less I can look at my mobile for messages, the better.
The second is the ability to to make your voicemail messages play on Gmail. So now your text and audio recordings will be accessible by computer. See instructions after the jump.

Vook combines reading, video, and social networking

Vook? What is a vook? Is a vook a book? I would like to look at a book that is a vook. I could look at vid on a vook, and tap into my FaceBook.
That is the Dr. Seuss description of this product. The vook, or virtual book, is designed by Simon and Schuster’s publishing house, and allows you to read a book, then watch video about the book, and uplink to Facebook so you can talk about it.
Now, you might be thinking: “Oh come on, just read the book or watch the movie, don’t do both”. Yes, I would have to agree with that, but think of what vook could do to the how-to book industry.
For example, if you get a vook cookbook, you can not only read the recipe, but watch a chef prepare the dish on a video. Then, you can follow the easy example, and, after you have eaten it, you can share with your Facebook friends about how good or bad it really is.
So, is there any chance that this will compete with the ebook reader market? Perhaps vook could go hand and hand for those who have Kindles. These vooks are only $6.99 for the PC Platform, and $4.99 for the iPhone version.
