Sony announces new Cyber-shots

The Cyber-shot line of digital cameras from Sony has made its mark for a number of years already, and this time round the consumer electronics giant has unveiled a couple more models for the masses - the DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1. These two models will bring unprecedented advances in low-light performance with approximately twice the sensitivity of cameras with traditional image sensors to the mass consumer market, thanks to them being the first Sony products that are fitted with Sony’s new “Exmor R” back illuminated CMOS sensor technology which help to improve shooting in low-light scenarios, making your images even clearer under such conditions by drastically reducing the amount of grain.

The DSC-TX1 is a pretty slim camera with a profile measuring a mere 16.5mm, carrying 10.2 megapixels of photographic goodness while boasting a streamlined, distinguished and curvy design that will definitely appeal to the younger generation who will not compromise both form and function in their gadgets. You will find that the touch panel allows you to scroll through your collection of images with but an effortless flick of your finger, while menus are easily accessible through the 3″ Clear Photo LCD Plus display. Apart from that, you will also find the TX1 equipped with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, letting you focus on an object from just 0.4″ away to capture superb macro shots that were once the domain of DSLRs. Other features include 4x telescopic zoom and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization.
As for the 10.2 megapixel WX1, this model is equipped with a 2.7″ Clear Photo LCD Plus display and measures slightly above 0.75″ slim, making it the perfect companion for DSLR owners who want a compact digital still camera that boasts high performance capabilities within. The WX1 will boast a Sony G lens that comes with an extraordinary wide angle 24-120mm 5x optical zoom, offering f/2.4 maximum aperture that allows nearly double the light gathering capability of conventional lenses. You can pick up the TX1 in silver, gray, pink and blue colors for $380 when it arrives later this September, while the WX1 will come in black for $350 when October rolls around.
